PCL Staff Changes

Women talk, we listenPCL have had a few recent staff changes. In November 2014 we farewelled Bernadette Turnbull from the role of network coordinator. We thank her for her commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism and wish her well in her future endeavours.

We welcome a new member of the Counselling team, Larissa BSocWK (Honours. Class 1), a social worker with experience in individual and family support.

Larissa has recently begun working with us at Pregnancy Counselling Link in November 2014. She graduated from her Bachelor of Social Work Degree, University of Queensland in 1998 with First Class Honours and has worked in both government and community sectors as well as Griffith and Monash Universities, focussing her work on children, young people and families.

Larissa works from an Attachment, Strength based and Solution-focused framework. She draws on a range of creative mediums including sand tray, strength cards, symbols, artwork, music and journaling to address issues that can cause stress.

When supporting pregnant and parenting clients, Larissa works to strengthen their trust in themselves and explore how their present actions support their own long term goals.

She also draws from the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy model of practice and the idea of being present to the moment. By accepting and sitting back from our thoughts and feelings, we can engage meaningfully with others, ourselves and our values.  So whilst we cannot often control what happens to us, we can change the way we handle situations.
